Privacy Policy

Last updated: December 2025

Argus Shield is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how we handle information when you use our browser extension.

We don't collect your data

  • No personal data is collected or transmitted
  • No wallet addresses are stored remotely
  • No browsing history is tracked
  • All data stays on your device
  • No analytics or telemetry

Information We Do Not Collect

Argus Shield is designed with privacy as a core principle. We do not collect, store, or transmit:

  • Your wallet addresses or public keys
  • Your transaction history or balances
  • The websites you visit
  • The signature requests you approve or reject
  • Any personal identifying information
  • Device information or browser fingerprints

Local Data Storage

Argus Shield stores the following data locally on your device using Chrome's storage API:

  • Settings — Your protection preferences (enabled/disabled state)
  • Whitelist — Contract addresses you've marked as trusted
  • Blacklist — Addresses you've marked as malicious
  • Activity Log — Recent threat detections for your reference

This data never leaves your device and is not accessible to us or any third party. You can clear it anytime through the extension or by uninstalling.

How the Extension Works

When you interact with Web3 applications, Argus Shield:

  • Intercepts signature and transaction requests in your browser
  • Analyzes the request locally to detect known attack patterns
  • Displays warnings based on the analysis
  • Allows you to approve or reject the request

All analysis is performed locally in your browser. No data is sent to external servers.

Network Requests

The extension does not make any network requests. It does not:

  • Connect to external servers
  • Download blacklists from remote sources
  • Send telemetry or usage statistics
  • Check for updates automatically

Permissions

Argus Shield requires the following browser permissions:

  • storage — To save your settings, whitelist, and blacklist locally
  • activeTab — To detect when you're on a page that may make wallet requests
  • host_permissions (all_urls) — To inject the protection script on Web3 sites

These are the minimum permissions required. We do not use them to collect or transmit any data.

Open Source

Argus Shield is open source software. You can review the complete source code on our GitHub repository to verify our privacy practices.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
